Unspoken words

Viaanshi's pov:-

I sat alone in my work room. I couldn't stop thinking about Shrey. For the first time ever, I didn't understand him.

Why did he come back to me?

Why did he want to be with me again?

Why couldn't he just let me be?

I tried hard, but I couldn't forget him. I still loved him deeply. Maybe I loved him even more now.

But that didn't mean I would easily forgive him. I couldn't forget the mean things he said that day. He blamed me without letting me explain.

How could he think the worst about me so quickly?

Sometimes I wondered if he ever really trusted me at all.

Even though I was hurt and confused, part of me still wanted him.

But I know that going back to him would mean losing my self-respect. I won't go back to a relationship full of doubt and mistrust.

I looked at the time. It was time for lunch already. I wasn't hungry, but I knew I had to eat something.

If I skipped lunch after not eating breakfast, my stomach would make noises until dinner. I turned off my computer. I reached for my food, ready to make myself eat.

Just then, my work friends Arushi, Arohi, Shanaya, and Rahul came to see me. They were my only friends at work.

In a short time, they became more than just coworkers. They were like family.

"Hey there, what are you doing?" Arohi asked me. She leaned on my desk.

I closed my food box. I gave Arohi a small smile.

"Not much," I said quietly. She looked at my food box, then back at me.

"Hey, let's go eat together. Rahul and I are having a small party," Arohi said with a smile.

I wasn't sure.

"No, really, it's okay. I'll just eat here," I said.

"Come on, please," Arohi begged. She held my hand and made puppy eyes. The others did the same. I sighed and said okay.

Arohi took my hand and led me to the eating place. We found a corner seat by the window and sat down together.

Arushi leaned towards me.

"What's wrong? You seem sad," she said, sounding worried.

I looked at my friends' kind faces. My eyes filled with tears.

"I...I'm just having some problems," I said, struggling to speak.

Aarushi held my hand.

"You know you can talk to us about anything, right?" she said softly.

I nodded, trying not to cry. Rahul put his arm around me to comfort me.

"We're here for you, always," he said firmly. "Now let's try to have some fun, okay?"

I smiled a little. Being with their warmth and kindness made me feel better already.

"Hey, you're pretty lucky," Shanaya said suddenly, looking at me with a grin.

I was confused.

"Lucky? Why's that?" I asked.

"Do you know about our new boss?" she asked excitedly.

"No, why are you talking about him?" I asked.

Today my manager said I'd be helping our new boss, who was sent here for reasons we don't know. But I didn't know who he was.

"He's already here, and he's very handsome. Any girl would want to be in your place. You're going to be working closely with him during work hours," she said excitedly.

"What...? But I thought he was coming in a few days," I said, surprised.

"Yeah, he was supposed to, but he came three days early. Didn't you know? Everyone's talking about it. And he's made quite an entrance. He's got everyone's attention. The girls are crazy about him, trying to get him to notice them, but he doesn't seem to care," Shanaya explained.

"But I didn't even see him arrive," I said.

"That's probably because you've been too busy to notice. He's been in his room since he got here. And guess what? His office is on the same floor as yours," she added, sounding a bit sarcastic. I nodded, understanding.

"I wish I could be in your place," Shanaya sighed, sounding like she wanted to be me.

We looked at each other, amused by how dramatic she was being.

"Didn't he come a few days ago?" Rahul asked, thinking hard.

"Yeah, but then he had to leave for something important. But now he's back," Arushi explained.

Suddenly, I felt very shocked.

Were they talking about Shrey?

Is he our new boss?

Am I going to be helping him from now on?

No, this can't be happening. I won't let it happen. I need to talk to the manager.

Yes, that's what I'll do.

"I have to go now. Something important just came up. Can't avoid it. Sorry, guys, and bye," I said quickly, leaving before they could say anything.

I walked to the manager's room and knocked. After he said I could come in, I entered.

"Hello, sir. Actually, sir, I wanted to talk about something. Can I?" I asked.

He nodded, telling me to go on.

"Sir, I don't want to be the helper to the new boss. Please give this job to someone else who deserves it more," I begged.

"I'm sorry, Viaanshi, but I can't do anything about it. The boss himself chose you as his helper, and now you should go to him. He's here already," the manager said.

Feeling upset, I left the manager's office. Determined, I went straight to the boss's room and walked in without knocking.

As I went inside, I was very surprised by what I saw. There he was, talking to someone in a very nice way, showing his white teeth. I felt very angry seeing this.

How dare he!

I will break his mouth.

This son of....Oberoi uncle... Heheee.

Lost in my thoughts, I didn't notice that he had finished talking and was now looking at me with an amused face. Clearing my throat awkwardly, I finally spoke.

"I don't want to work with you," I said firmly.

"And why is that?" he asked in a professional way.

"Because I just don't want to. Isn't that enough of a reason?" I said back.

"Then maybe you should think about leaving this job. I wouldn't mind," he said, shrugging his shoulders like he didn't care.

"You should know, I'm very good at karate. And right now, I really want to practice my fighting skills on you," I threatened, smiling sweetly.

"If you want to, you can. After all, you're my jaan, my life. And whatever you want, you'll have it no matter what," he said, his smile getting softer.

"You... I'll deal with you," I said, pointing at him angrily.

"I'm all yours, baby. Trust me on that," he said, smiling in a teasing way.

Stomping my foot because I was angry, I stormed out of his office. Suddenly, he called out to me.

"Be on time tomorrow. Don't be late," he shouted after me.

I made an angry noise and ignored what he said as I left.

As I angrily left his office, Shrey's words kept playing in my mind, making me feel upset.

How could he talk to me like that after everything that happened between us?

The way he acted like he didn't care only made me more frustrated.
