The next day:-
Viaanshi's Pov:-
"Viaanshi," the office helper called, and I frowned, wondering why I was being called so suddenly.
I went into the room after knocking, and after hearing "come in" from inside.
"Excuse me, sir," I said, going in without looking at the main chair, who just nodded.
"Okay, Ms. Viaanshi, please sit down," he said, pointing to a chair.
He then asked me questions about my work, which I answered with confidence. During the talk, I felt someone looking at me hard.
When I finally looked, I wasn't very surprised by who it was. I quickly looked away from him and focused on the manager.
"Thank you, sir," I said, standing up.
The manager stood up. He put out his hand to shake. I was about to shake his hand. But then, I heard a strong voice.
"Out!" the voice shouted. The manager quickly left. I started to follow him. But the voice stopped me.
"Mrs. Viaanshi Shreyansh Oberoi," the voice called. I turned back.
"It's Ms. Viaanshi, and please, sir, let me go," I said. I wanted to leave.
But before I could, he grabbed my wrist. He pulled me towards him. His arms went around my waist. My hands landed on his chest.
"Let me go, Mr. Oberoi!" I shouted. My voice sounded desperate.
"Never, Mrs. Oberoi," he whispered in my ear. It made me shiver.
"Let me go," I said. My lips shook. I thought of his words. Tears came to my eyes. I ended up crying against his chest.
"Shhh! Don't cry, Aanshi, please. Please hit me or do whatever you want, but please don't cry. It hurts my heart," he begged.
His eyes had tears in them. I pushed him away. I yelled, feeling too many emotions.
"Listen carefully, I'm Viaanshi. Just Viaanshi, not Raichand or Oberoi, okay? By the way, we were never married, so how am I Mrs. Oberoi? Can you explain?"
"You will be soon. We'll get married soon, jaan, don't worry. And you're not Mrs. Oberoi... yet. But soon," he said. He winked at me.
How dare he!
The nerve!
Suddenly, I pushed past him. I stormed out of the room. I ignored him completely.
I ignored him all day. In the evening, I went to the parking area. My friends were already waiting for me. We live in the same building. The company gave it to us.
First, we went to the park. Then we went back home together. I had a nice evening with my good friends.
I said good night to everyone. I went to my room. I had a short sleep in the afternoon, but I still felt sleepy and tired.
I took the key card out from my jeans' side pocket. I wanted to open the door. But I saw it was already open.
Strange!
I clearly remember closing it. How could it be open?
I scratched the back of my neck. I felt confused.
"Did I really forget to lock the door?" I thought.
Maybe I did. I shrugged my shoulders and went into the room.
I looked around to make sure it was my room and not someone else's. I saw my bag on the floor.
"I guess I forgot to lock the door by mistake," I said to myself.
The whole building belonged to the company. It was given to workers like us. There wasn't much risk of theft because of cameras watching.
I opened the closet to find something comfy for the night. I dug deep into my suitcase. I pulled out a sleeveless knee-length dress. I liked wearing comfy clothes for good sleep.
I thought about taking a shower before bed. I grabbed a spare towel from the cupboard.
Suddenly, something fell behind me. I turned around quickly. I was shocked to see someone's shape on the balcony. My eyes got big with fear.
"W-who's there?" I said, shaking, holding the towel tight.
No answer. The shape didn't move.
My heart beat fast in my chest. I slowly moved towards the balcony door, my hands shaking.
As I got closer, the person stepped into the light.
Oh God! Who is it? A thief?
I got very alert, and sweat formed on my forehead. I swallowed my fear as I looked around the room, my brain working hard to find a way out of this scary situation.
I saw a metal vase on the table by the bed. Taking slow, careful steps, I went to the vase and picked it up quietly, making sure not to make any noise.
Holding the vase tight in my hands, I got ready to defend myself if the stranger tried to hurt me. Very carefully, I moved towards the balcony.
"Who's there?" I asked, trying to sound brave.
"Listen, I'm very good at karate. If you want to live, you'll leave right now," I said, hoping to scare the stranger if they were still on the balcony.
Gathering all my courage, I kept going. With shaking hands, I slowly opened the balcony's glass door and carefully looked outside, holding the vase tight.
I turned my head to the left, finding the balcony empty. Feeling a bit better, I started to turn my head to look at the right side when suddenly, someone covered my mouth to stop me from screaming and grabbed my wrist, along with the vase of flowers.
I tried hard to get free from his grip, wanting to scream. Using my free hand, I tried to take his hand off my mouth, but stopped suddenly when I heard his voice.
"Calm down, Aanshi. It's me," he whispered.
My eyes got very big in shock, and the flower vase fell from my hand.
Oh God, it's him.
He took his hand off my mouth when he was sure I wouldn't scream.
"Shrey!" I said, surprised.
"Yes, sweetheart, it's me, and only me," he whispered close to my ear while putting his arms around my waist, pulling me close to remove any space between us.
As my back touched his firm chest, I breathed in sharply. I held his hands tight and leaned into him even more.
"I missed you so much," he said, his voice full of wanting.
He rubbed his nose against my bare shoulder, giving wet kisses that made me shiver. My body reacted without thinking as he gently bit my earlobe, making me gasp and breathe heavily.
No, I can't let myself give in to his touch so easily. I quickly got control over my feelings.
"Let go of me," I said firmly.
"Please forgive me, Aanshi," he begged, holding my waist tighter.
I gently took his hands off and stepped back, right away missing the warmth of his body as the cold night air surrounded me.
"It's not the time to melt....," I reminded myself sternly.
Closing my eyes tight, I took a deep breath, wanting to push away any thoughts and feelings that might betray me. With strength, I turned around to face him confidently.
"Forgive you? It's easy for you to say, Shrey. How can I forgive you when you can't even trust me?" I said back, my voice sharp and unforgiving.
"I'm sorry, Aanshi. I know I was stupid. But please, don't push me away. It hurts my heart," he begged, a tear falling from his eyes.
For a moment, my strength wavered as I looked into his begging eyes, but I shook my head, staying strong.
"Everything between us is over, Shrey. There's nothing left," I said firmly, pulling my hands away from his grip.
"Nothing is over, Aanshi," he said back.
"I've already moved on with my life," I lied.
"Really?" he said, sounding a bit amused as he raised his eyebrows.
"Yes," I answered confidently.
He looked into my eyes hard, coming closer with every careful step. I felt confused as I tried to understand what he was doing, staying in place as he closed the space between us.
My heart beat faster with each step he took, and when he was just an arm's length away, he grabbed my waist and pulled me towards him hard, making me gasp and fall into his arms.
Holding his shoulder for support, I got my balance back.
Before I could say a word...
"Shhhh!" he quieted me, pressing a finger gently against my lips and looking into my eyes. At his touch, old feelings rose up inside me,
"Aashu, why does your heart beat fast whenever I touch you?" he said in a low voice, gently rubbing his nose against mine. A small smile came to my lips as I blushed.
Suddenly, memories of our bad past filled my mind, and a single tear fell down my cheek.
"I'm sorry. I know I can't undo the hurt I've caused in the past, but I promise to make up for it by making a future full of good memories for us," he promised, using his thumb to wipe away my tears.
I opened my eyes and looked into his, not sure if I should believe him. His eyes showed innocence and lots of love for me.
His face showed he was truly sorry and really wanted me to forgive him. But no, I couldn't do it.
My heart wanted to believe him, but my mind yelled warnings not to fall for this again. I'd already been through so much in life; I couldn't take any more pain.
As I asked him with tears,
"Why can't you just go away, like everyone else did?"
He gently wiped my tears and said,
"Trust me, I'll be there when no one else is standing by your side."
He looked at me with sad eyes, then gently took my hands and pulled me close, giving a soft kiss on my forehead.
"I'll earn your forgiveness and make you mine," he promised before leaving the room.
Tired, I fell to the floor, leaning against the nearby couch and closing my eyes.
